The West Sussex Autism in Schools Project* team and have worked together with the Ethnic Minority & Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS) to coproduce a resource for bilingual families who are supporting an autistic child or a child on the autistic diagnostic pathway.
‘Understanding Autism and Social Communication Needs’ is a short video, available in a wide range of languages, to support the understanding of autism for parent carers who are bilingual, learning English as an additional language or new to the country. This knowledge and awareness can help to develop parental and community engagement with services designed to support both children and their families along the pathway.
