Interactive factors framework

The Interactive Factors Framework (IFF) provides a way of considering the holistic factors which may be affecting a child or young person’s development and ability to access learning.

The table below shows some key environmental, biological, cognitive and behavioural factors that may be impacting on the child or young person. These prompts may be helpful in considering or discussing the needs of the children and young people you work with. Downloadable copies of this IFF prompt and a blank IFF template are available on the ‘IFF Guidance’ Page and ‘Assess’ page of the Assess, Plan, Do, Review Section.

Further information regarding the IFF and its use is given in the IFF Guidance page.
